Institutionalized racism is a pervasive issue that exists across many societies, and affects millions of people every day. While the term itself is commonly used to describe the systemic discrimination against minorities, there are many other terms that can be used to describe this same phenomenon. Some other synonyms for institutionalized racism include systemic racism, structural racism, pervasive racism, and entrenched racism. These alternate terms highlight the deep-seated nature of discrimination, and underscore the need for a collective effort to dismantle these systems of oppression. By using a variety of terms to describe institutionalized racism, we can better understand and articulate the challenges we face in combatting this pervasive issue.
