Proxy vote refers to the act of giving someone else the power to vote on behalf of another individual or group. A few synonyms for this term include, but are not limited to, "proxy ballot," "delegated voting," and "surrogate voting." Through these methods, the person who is chosen to cast the vote is expected to make decisions in accordance with the voter's wishes and interests. Additionally, other words that can be used interchangeably with proxy vote include "absentee voting" and "vote by mail." These phrases can be used when the individual who is delegating their vote to someone else cannot physically be present to cast their ballot in person.
