Mastigomycota is a taxonomic group of fungi that includes flagellated species. It is also known as zoosporic fungi, due to their mode of reproduction through the production of zoospores. Some synonyms for Mastigomycota include Chytridiomycota, due to their inclusion in the group traditionally known as chytrids, and Neocallimastigomycota, due to the presence of flagella in the early diverging fungal taxa. Additionally, Zoosporia has been proposed as an alternative name for this group of fungi.
